Nissan investing $900m on plant

According to Reuters, Nissan plans to spend about $900m to build a new auto assembly plant in China which will increase production by 30%.

Although the final talks are still being conducted, the plans are to build the new plant in Wuhan (Hubei province), with help from Nissan’s partner Dongfeng Motor Group.

The total amount invested in the Wuhan plant totals to 100bn yen and is anticipated to have a yearly production volume of 200,000 to 300,000.

At the Dongfeng plant in Changzhou, new production lines will be added to increase capacity to an annual 120,000 cars, a spokesman from Nissan told Reuters.

The spokesman also said that Nissan is considering the idea of expanding its production capacity in China but did not comment any further.
