Lyft makes international move

Ride hailing company, Lyft is set to launch in Toronto, Canada in December in what will be its first international expansion outside the US.

The move comes after aggressive expansion in the US which has resulted in the app now being available to 95% of the US population, up from 54% at the start of 2017.

In its blog, Lyft claimed the move into Toronto would ‘help ring in the holidays’.

Earlier this year, Lyft raised $1.6bn in financing, with contributions from the likes of Google parent company Alphabet’s investment arm and Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board. The company claims to now be worth $11bn.
