Dave Gunderson, 3M Vice President and General Manager, of the Automotive Aftermarket Division has spent his career in and around the automotive industry. Cars and the care for them are a passion for Dave, not only at work, but in his free time.
He joined 3M in 1988 as a Technical Service Engineer in Livonia, in the state of Michigan where he grew up. Quickly learning and wanting to expand his career, 3M brought him to headquarters in Saint Paul, Minnesota where moved from the technical organization to leading many of the core 3M businesses.
Dave has held global business roles in key 3M portfolios, such as, Body Structures and Adhesives, Masking Tape, and Advanced Ceramics including Ceradyne Inc. In addition, he has been part of the Six Sigma Operations working as the Master Black Belt for Aerospace and Marine, and then Strategic Planning and Business Development for Automotive Aftermarket.
With the global footprint of 3M, Dave also moved to Germany for as European Business Manager and California where he led the acquisition for Meguiar’s Inc becoming the first Director and Chief Operating Officer for Meguiar’s and the 3M branded Auto Care portfolios.
Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Minnesota.
