Frank Phillipssr. manager, North America-Collision Repair Network, Rivian
Frank has been involved in the collision industry for nearly 35 years. As a collision technician, and shop owner, followed by 10 years in education as an instructor for collision at Morgan Community College. He began an insurance career as an auto field appraiser and ultimately a claims manager for specialty and heavy-duty claims leading a team with a national footprint for QBE Insurance for 10 years. He then worked with Pete Tag at NuGen IT for 2 years working in business development and account management related to the insurance and collision repair software.
Those experiences led to an opportunity to spend almost 5 years creating and developing the repair quality programs for Abra Autobody and Glass, then after merging with Caliber Collision Mr Phillips implemented the initial version of Calibers Standard of Quality Program. In July of 2020 he was afforded the opportunity to work alongside an industry leading team of talented folks building the entire collision program for Rivian. Mr Phillips is specifically responsible for the Rivian Certified Collision Network for North America. Consisting of four programs: passenger vehicle certification, commercial vehicle certification, calibration and diagnostic certification, and finally the business-to-business program for predelivery preparation for new Rivian’s before ownership.
With a wide degree of experiences over the 30+ years, Mr Phillips considers his greatest accomplishment so far to be the development of many highly skilled and regarded teams of industry experts armed with the skills to achieve both long term and immediate strategies for the good of each organisation. Working at Rivian as a new EV startup has afforded him countless professional opportunities to continue to learn and grow as a representative for the collision industry. An industry that has provided for him and his family for three decades, he strives to find ways to give back to those forging the new frontiers we encounter with each new evolution of vehicle.
