Carlos Ghosn’s detention extended

On 23 December 2018, a Japanese court extended Nissan chairman’s, Carlos Ghosn, detention by 10 days, according to Reuters.
Carlos is facing new allegations of shouldering $16.6m of Nissan’s money in personal investment losses.
Announced by the Tokyo District Court, the extension requires Carlos to stay in Tokyo’s main detention centre. The detention centre is where Carlos has been held since his arrests regarding allegations of financial misconduct in November.
According to the prosecutors, on 21 December, Carlos was re-arrested regarding suspicions that he was shifting personal trades to Nissan in the amount of $16.6m in appraisal losses, during October 2008.
Prosecutors also stated that the accusations caused harm on the car company by having it deposit, into a related bank account, $14.7m on four separate occasions between June 2009 and March 2012.
