IBIS Türkiye 2023 event review

IBIS returned to Istanbul on 12th October for the 10th time, to continue our journey of collaboration and partnership with the Turkish collision repair community.
2023 saw IBIS welcome old friends and new to another new venue. After enjoying, but outgrowing, previous IBIS Türkiye conference homes at the Hilton Bomonti, Wyndham Grand Levent and Sheraton Istanbul Levant, continued growth meant we needed to relocate again to a new venue with more networking and auditorium space. So, the IBIS team warmly welcomed guests to the Marriott Şişli for the latest episode of the IBIS Türkiye success story.
Since IBIS Türkiye 2022, the market had experienced relentless economic, strategic, and operational obstacles, yet came together again to network with other future focused stakeholders from across Türkiye and beyond as leading stakeholders and subject matter experts from five continents once again ensured IBIS Türkiye was a meeting point for the world.
The hybrid event saw 23 speakers participate on stage and on screen in seven value packed sessions discussing and debating ‘Sustainable Strategies for Success’ for all key stakeholders.
The day opened with a session on Managing in Economic Uncertainty and how to retain clarity, remain focused and successfully implement your strategy with Erda Gercek, former Citibank consultant and now Managing Partner of Thales Training and Consulting on stage with Kıvanç Emiroğlu, Co-Founder and Senior Partner, Dogma Alares, who has been voted one of the top 25 strategy consultants in the world.
This was followed by Shaping the Future: The Key Drivers Changing the Industry Landscape Forever with Ali Özçete, Chairman, OSS, Anıl Demir, Partner and Performance Management Director, AXA Türkiye and Halit Bolkan, Automotive Journalist, Kafa Radyo, Autoclub YouTube.
Following the networking coffee break we resumed with The Growth of Entrepreneurship discussing innovative business models resulting from the key industry drivers, which saw Haluk Yeşilbayraktar, General Manager, Homer Servisler on stage with Kamil Ilgaz, Temsa Otomotiv and Ahmet Yasar Buluntu, Owner, Amer Oto.
Leading up to lunch was Tomorrow’s Digitalisation and Technology Today discussing how digitised ecosystems will connect vehicles, insurers, claims processes, bodyshops and customers. Maher El Ghailani, Area Managing Director, MENAT Region, Solera was joined onstage by Sinem Gurun, Claims Coordinator, Anadolu Sigorta, Timur Selçuk Turan, CEO, Tur Assist and onscreen by Kobi Bendelak, CEO of Insurtech Israel.
The afternoon kicked off with The Changing Supply Chain – The new normal that will become just normal debating how leaders are driving change by scaling up and innovating the supply chain model. This session saw 3D printing being tabled for the first time as Michael LoPrete, Managing Director, 4Plastic Repairs USA, Roger Marti, Senior Director of Product Management, Snap-on and Murat Ustuner, Regional Division Leader, South East Europe Middle East & Africa, 3M, discussed how supply chains will look and add new value in future.
That was followed by Powering Up Our Electric Vehicle Capacity and Capability – The knowledge, skills, equipment, and standards required in an electrified world which was delivered by Dirk Fuchs, Founder and Owner, Electric Mobility Consulting, USA live on screen from Denver, Colorado, and Kuzey Karakoç, Bakirci Group and Turan Altın, CEO, Gold Garage on stage.
The conference closed with the final session on ADAS and how it is recalibrating repair skills and processes forever, where Phil Peace, Managing Director International, Repairify and Adrian Parkes, Founding Director, ADAS Solutions, Australia joined live onscreen from Australia to discuss the subject with Mustafa Tütünoğlu, Executive Board Member, RS Automotive Group and Erdem Şap, Technical Sales Specialist, Axalta Türkiye on stage.
The event closed with the ever-popular networking drinks reception which followed straight on from the closing remarks, before guests departed at leisure to make their way home.
