BMW workers have suspended 24-hour strikes that were planned in response to the carmaker’s decision to close its final salary pension scheme.
Workers at Cowley and Swindon strike were due to strike on Sunday while workers at Goodwood and Hams Hall had planned to down tools on Wednesday.
It’s understood both actions have been put on hold while fresh offers are considered.
A 24-hour strike at Cowley, Goodwood, Hams Hall and Swindon scheduled for yesterday was also called off.
Unite national officer for BMW, Fred Hanna, said, ‘While Unite is not recommending the offer, as it will have different outcomes for different people and their pensions…which Unite believes members should have an opportunity to consider.’
A BMW spokesman said the offer was ‘fair and in the long-term interests of both the company and all our employees.’
