Nissan Motor Co Ltd will make automatic emergency braking (AEB) standard on an estimated one million vehicles sold in the US for model year 2018.
Reuters reports that the Japanese car maker has said seven of its models, including Rogue, Altima and Murano, will come with the AEB as standard.
US auto safety regulators said last year that 20 automakers, including Nissan, General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, Daimler and Honda had agreed to make AEB standard on nearly all US vehicles by 2022.
Research suggests that 87% of all deaths and injuries involving rear-end collisions in the US during 2012 might have been prevented or lessened if vehicles had collision avoidance systems inbuilt.
