When the life cycle of Ford’s Focus model ends in 2023, Ford could be making electric cars in Germany the head of the business divulged to Reuters. He also added that they would be welcoming state subsidies to aid in the new shift.
Gunnar Herrmann told German publisher Handelsblatt that the timeline is still only hypothetical but that 2023 would be a good time for electric vehicle production.
BMW also agreed with Gunnar in statements last week, saying that they do not have plans to mass produce EVs until 2020 as they wait for technology to become profitable enough for the cost of production.
Ford U.S. also has plans to invest billions of dollars into electric vehicles by 2022, with the introduction of at least 13 electric and hybrid models worldwide.
