AkzoNobel is hoping to rule the waves by winning the Volvo Ocean Race next year.
It’s teamed up with Dutch sailor Simeon Tienpont to compete in the round-the-world races which starts in October 2017 and ends the following July.
The event starts in Alicante, Spain, and stops in Lisbon, Cape Twon, Auckland, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Newport and Cardiff before concluding in Gothenburg.
The paint company believes this competition is a good fit in terms of purpose, equity drivers (Innovation and Sustainability) and key values (teamwork, performance, diversity), adding that both brands have a prestigious heritage.
Meanwhile, the yacht – which will be crewed by international sailors – will showcase AkzoNobel’s International/Awlgrip Coatings and provide a platform for Essential Protection, Essential Color and Essential Ingredients.
