bodyshop magazine teams with Remit Group to deliver upgraded bodyshop awards for 2019

Britain’s most influential bodyshop industry media brand, bodyshop magazine, has teamed with leading national training provider and automotive specialist, Remit Group, to host the assessments for entrants to the UK’s only independent car bodyshop awards: bodyshop Live!.

Jason Moseley, CEO of bodyshop and IBIS described the partnership as exciting, ‘Our industry is changing at a rapid pace. So it’s essential we always review what we do to meet the collision repair sector’s needs. These skills assessments are no exception. A fresh injection of creativity and innovation from a thought-leading business such as Remit will evolve the UK industry’s most coveted awards to another level. This will be a great partnership.’

The independent assessment process ensures these awards are unique within the crash repair industry. They are specifically for car bodyshop workers engaged within mechanical, electrical and trim, panelcraft, and paint repair, both at experienced operator level and apprentices.

Remit has been a leader in automotive training for many years, works with hundreds of body repair apprentices from across the UK, ensuring all those pursuing a career in the motor industry are trained to a high standard, and well prepared for their future career.

Chris Peddie, business unit director at Remit says ‘Remit Group is very pleased to be the partner and sponsor of bodyshop Live! 2019. At Remit we continually look to drive up standards for apprenticeships and have invested in excellent training facilities at our Automotive Academy to ensure we can support employers and train apprentices.’

Qualification assessments will take place across six dates in June, and successful individuals will be invited to come to Remit’s dedicated Automotive Academy to show off their practical skills within their chosen discipline. For each of the categories the finalists will be assessed undertaking the same tasks on the same components (eg type of car wing, bumper, car to strip etc) using the same set of consumables (abrasives, fillers, primers and paint).

Experts from Remit and the automotive industry will ensure that entrants and winners alike are assured of the highest standards in assessment for the skills they are demonstrating. The judging panel will be able to observe each worker as they perform their assigned tasks, and the finished ‘article’ will be on hand for the final judging. In this way, there is complete parity between the tasks assigned and the judging outcomes. With this level of rigour, bodyshop magazine and Remit are serious about showcasing the talent and skills of the technicians and the prestige of participating in the 2019 bodyshop awards.
