According to Reuters, Nissan’s brand Infiniti plans to triple sales in China within the next five years.
To increase sales, Nissan plans to make four additional car models within the Infiniti brand and to shift to an emphasis on electric contributions.
Infiniti will aim to increase sales to 150,000 vehicles per year, as compared to 48,000 vehicles in 2017.
Roland Krueger, the brand’s global president believes that from 2021 every Infiniti model launched will be either an all-electric car or hybrid, following Nissan’s previously announced plan to make Infiniti mainly an electrified brand.
More than half of Infiniti’s global sales will be electric vehicles by 2025, Roland stated. ‘Growth is phenomenal, and we might see a million electric cars sold this year. Almost doubling sales.’
Nissan and Infiniti’s move towards electric vehicles is important to help meet China’s strict fuel-economy requirements and productions quotas for EVs.
