Nissan considering Renault split: report

Nissan is stepping up plans to split from Renault, according to reports.

The Financial Times claims that preliminary discussions for a separation include a total divide in engineering and manufacturing.

It is understood that should the two split, both car makers would seek alternative partnerships.

This follows Carlos Ghosn’s recent flight to Lebanon from Japan, where he was under house arrest on charges of financial misconduct. Ghosn built and led the alliance before being ousted when the charges against him were made.
