IBIS USA, ‘World of Opportunity’, is fast approaching and IBIS is delighted to announce a new speaker that will be shaping the agenda for the day.
Dr. Barry Sheehan, lecturer in risk management and insurance, will be joining us from the Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick. He is an emerging risk researcher with insurance industry and academic experience and a professional background in actuarial science.
The multiplicity of enabling technologies embedded within connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) promises prevention and mitigation of accidents, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and more efficient utility of energy and infrastructure. While a fundamental objective of CAVs is to replace human judgement with the increasingly capable driverless technology, it is again humans who pose a significant threat to CAVs. The creators of the enabling technologies may unwittingly create systems with defects or vulnerabilities that allow malicious hackers the opportunity to exploit these vulnerabilities. In his presentation, Barry will share the research outputs from two EU H2020 research projects related to semi-autonomous vehicles.
IBIS USA will take place on the 13 – 15 February at the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa Hotel and will host around 200 delegates from the global collision repair industry. This networking gathering will break new ground in bringing global perspectives and a world class agenda to San Diego, California.
