Trump urges home building

US president Donald Trump has urged Fiat Chrysler, Ford and General Motors to build more cars in America.

He met the heads of the three auto manufacturers in an hour-long meeting yesterday when he restated his pledge to see more auto plants in the country in a bid to create more jobs.

Trump said, ‘We have a very big push on to have auto plants and other plants, many other plants. It’s happening. It’s happening big league.’

In return, he said he will cut regulations and taxes.

Trump has previously threatened to raise 35% tariffs on imported vehicles.

Speaking after the event, Ford Motor Co’s Mark Fields, said he’d work with Trump to create a ‘renaissance in American manufacturing.’

General Motors Co CEO Mary Barra added that there was a ‘huge opportunity to improve the environment, improve safety and improve the jobs creation.’
