China set to fine US automaker

Reports indicate that China is set to penalise an unnamed US vehicle manufacturer for monopolistic behaviour.

The report, from the official China Daily newspaper, revealed that investigators have found a US company had instructed distributors to fix prices starting in 2014.

The anticipated penalty follows a government crackdown on what China has labelled as ‘monopolistic behaviour’ by foreign automakers and dealers.

It would be the second penalty by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in December and the seventh fine issued to automakers since the commission began anti-monopoly investigations in 2011, the newspaper reported.
