For 26-year-old Sandu Panduleni Kambala from a small riverside town in Namibia, he knew from the moment he stepped into a workshop and saw the mechanics at work that that was what he wanted to do. Having realised this goal, Sandu has real passion for his profession. It was his instructor who first told him about the WorldSkills competition. Initially, he didn’t feel very confident about taking part, but so as not to disappoint he agreed to give it a go. Sandu felt a mixture of joy and anxiety when competing with many other trainees from various VTCs in Namibia. He scooped the first position and was awarded Gold at the national skills competition in 2019. That boosted his confidence and he now knows he has the necessary skills to excel in his career. Sandu has been doing contract work for two years now and is confident he will be able to find his feet in the industry.
