Aomen Xu – gold medallist of Autobody Repair, WorldSkills Kazan 2019

For 20-year-old Aomen Xu his interest in vehicles of all kinds began in childhood. These days he derives satisfaction from repairing a car back to its ultimate best.
Aomen started his course in bodywork repair at the Shanghai Yangpu Vocational and Technical School when he was 16. After leaving, he had the opportunity to take part in the municipal and national competition for the 45th World Skills competition. He was awarded first place, which meant he was to represent China in the Kazan World Skills 2019 event. He jumped for joy when he heard his name announced as overall champion at the Kazan closing ceremony.
Aomen now works as a technician for SAIC General Motor which is ranked 41 out of the top 500 companies. His focus is on doing his best to succeed and helping more young people develop their skills to get on in the industry.
